Seamstresses... A Project!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been able to update too much this week... I'm in the middle of moving and finding a job and furniture I can afford. BUT today while browsing through some DIY blogs, I came across an excellent project for you to try out. Have you ever seen wedges or flats that you love the lines of but maybe not the color or fabric so much? Well now you can cover them in whatever fabric you like with these instructions! I can't wait to try out this myself...a great way to revamp some old shoes. I hope you enjoy, and if you try this, please send me a pic here!

From this....

...to this!

Just follow the step by step instructions here. They seem quite easy, and require no sewing skills! Everyone should be able to make them ^-^ The writer's instructions are also very easy to follow. Happy crafting!

Doll House: Anne.Sofie

I am back with another amazing suite created by Anne.Sofie! Her suite inspires me so much, and she is very nice to talk to as well. All throughout her suite, she clearly has a vision. While the colors are more neutral, her suite is anything but boring. She has played with textures to create interest in her rooms. Anne.Sofie uses wood grains, furs, stone, animal prints, brick, and geometric patterns beautifully. BlackVelouria also pointed out how she has placed orchids in almost every single room. It is said that the orchid represents love, beauty, luxury, and strength which I think sums up Anne.Sofie's suite quite well. Such a lovely and pure addition. Please go by and visit her excellent suite! Bellow I've put some pictures up of her rooms, and a very thoughtful interview. I think you can really see that Anne.Sofie puts a lot of thought into everything she does and is always true to herself. Enjoy and please leave a comment below!

I love how she has used the couch as a head board and pillows. So creative!

The LE chair Anne.Sofie mentions in the interview is just perfect. It really compliments the room so well. I like the idea of her forever changing rooms, as if they are living, breathing things.

Alie: What was the first room you started decorating and finished?
Anne.Sofie: Well, I've changed my suite a lot since I started to decorate it, but I think the oldest of the current rooms is the bedroom on the 2nd floor to the right (shown above). I always make small changes to my rooms, however, so it looks a bit different now than it did when I first 'finished' it. I mean, when the LE furniture came out, I bought the fur covered chair and placed it in the bedroom instead of the chair that was there before because the fur and the colour of it suited the rest of the room so well. That's why I never consider any of my rooms to be 'complete' or 'finished', simply because there are always new things to add and so on. It's a 'work in progress' as I like to call it.

Great textures are being used here! The brick, the long thin rectangular tiles, the mesh rug under the table, the shiny surfaces... wonderful.

Alie: Which room of your suite is your favorite?
Anne.Sofie: This is a tough one to answer as I'm very pleased with all of my rooms because they represent me so well, but if I were to choose just one I'd choose the kitchen I made in the Beach Villa room (pictured last). It turned out really well, I think. The size of the room allowed me to make the kitchen I had always dreamed of making since we here in Denmark really value kitchens as one of, if not THE, most important rooms in a house or apartment. It's big with lots of space and there's a lot of personal details such as the wallpaper I designed and also the floor since I - as far as I know and at least within my circle of friends- was the first one to use the stones as a floor.

Here you can see Anne.Sofie's home made desk. What a great idea! And a new texture is shown in the chair. I also love the scene she has created outside the window using branches.

I feel as though I would never, ever want to leave this room! It has a subtle feel of the Serengeti with the play of animals.

Alie: What is your inspiration for your rooms?
Anne.Sofie: I gather inspiration anywhere and everywhere, really. I like visiting other people's suites and find inspiration there. It's not because I copy their ideas, it's more because seeing their ideas and their way of decorating sort of triggers my own creativity and makes me think of my own ways to create different things. I do a lot of DIY in my suite. I create my own furniture and so on, such as the desk I created (3rd floor on right and pictured two up). I think that's the most fun and also what makes my suite more unique because I don't just settle for the furniture Stardoll has made available to me. If I need a piece of furniture and I don't like any of the ones in the StarPlaza or the SuiteShop, then I simply go ahead and make one myself.

Very zen. She has utilized this interior very nicely, and has really drawn the viewers eye to the bed by placing it under the lights, and having it framed by the walls.

My dream kitchen as well as Anne.Sofie's. Brilliant use of the beach villa stone floor. She was the first that I saw to use it like that! Love!

Alie: What advice would you give someone who was just starting to decorate their suite?
Anne.Sofie: The advice I always follow myself is really simple: I always try to decorate my rooms the way I would want them to look if it was a real life house/apartment. For example, I think to myself, "what does my dream living room look like?" Another important thing to remember is to stay true to yourself and your own style. Just because everyone decorates their suite in a certain style doesn't mean that YOU have to, and don't ever copy anyone. We all get inspired by each other, but nothing, NOTHING, good comes from copying someone else.

Please go by and look Anne.Sofie's suite in it's entirety! My post does not do it justice. I hope you all enjoyed reading her wonderful and in depth interview. I hope it has inspired you as much as it does me. If you go to her suite, please only leave nice comments and NO spamming! Although I don't think you dolls would do that anyways ^-^ Please leave a comment below, and let me know what you think!

Twiggy Tutorial

Here is my very first makeup tutorial EVER! I decided to show how to make a look inspired by the 60's model Twiggy. You can stop when the makeup is complete or go on, like I did, and throw on a few fake lashes. Up to you! I hope you enjoy it, and please leave a comment. I would love some feedback and a few suggestions on tutorials you'd like to see!

Inspiration:
Famous picture of Twiggy.

Products Used:

Tutorial:
Step One:
I put all of the makeup I was using together, and I put my hair up so I had a blank canvas to work with.
Step Two:
Eye Shadow/Shade Stick: I covered the whole eyelid only once with the white. Closer to the lid, I went over it two more times making it darker each time.
Step Three:
White Eyeliner: I lined the top and bottom lids with the white liner. I kind of look like a clown right now. Not to worry!
Step Four:
Liquid Liner: Next, I lined the TOP eyelid only with the black liquid liner. I extended it a bit farther out than what the Twiggy inspiration photo did, but that was a stylistic choice. You should play with it, and find where you want it.
Step Five:
Mascara: Volumizing and lengthening mascara were added next. You may choose to use only one depending on the eyes you have.
Step Six:
Lipstick: Now I added the Apricot lipstick to give it that mod, nude look! You can choose to stop here or continue with me by adding a few more fun details.
Step Seven (Optional):
Extras: Last, but not least, I added top and bottom lashes. I also added the line of jewels under my eye for extra definition.
Finished Product:
Without lashes and with lashes!

Here is my sister, erica_star, and our spokes doll, pinupdollsblog, to show how the Twiggy makeup looks on different dolls.

Dolls: Week Two

Okay here is week two of dolls! Sorry it's a bit late... "real" life took over my stardoll one. Once again I went scouring Stardoll for lovely dolls who express their unique styles. I was able to find six wonderful outfits! These dolls all stand out by expressing themselves differently. Some use more neutral colors, others prefer contrast, while some are very colorful. I even included Pinup Dolls Blog's own BlackVelouria! Surprise BlackVelouria ^-^ I hope you enjoy reading this, and fill your eyes with wonderful sights! Check back soon for a dress-up challenge....  oh and for some reason there are two different fonts showing up. I'm not sure why, and I couldn't change it. Not sure what's up.

Please leave a comment ^-^

clicc1 has created a simple, yet edgy look with this ensemble. Her top seems quite plain, but the ripped up tights and combat looking boots makes it anything but. I love her use of eye popping hot pink in the outfit as well. The purse really adds something to this outfit. To my surprise, these boots are not just one pair of shoes! They involved three different layers! Can I say genius? I would have never ever thought of doing that. I think one of my favorite parts of this outfit is the headband! I must say, clicc1 is full of wonderful design surprises!

What she is wearing:

ELLE Silk Ribbon Trimmed Tunic
Fallen Angel Gothic Pantyhose
Fallen Angel Hot Buys String Belt
Young Hollywood Ruby Expressionist Purse
Bonjour Bizou Hot Buys Wedge Shoes
Bonjour Bizou Black Socks
Fallen Angel High Heel Ankle Boots w/ Studs
*Black Headband

"I love clothes with good color, but I also like simple chic looks too."

I don't think that "eye catching color" quite sums up ghost4spider's wonderful outfit! Although it seems extremely colorful, she has stuck to three main colors, blue, purple, and green, which keeps it look great and not tacky. All three of these colors are by each other on the color wheel and keeps it from looking overwhelming. The use of geometric patterns within the outfit also tie it together. Notice how the clothes help draw attention up to her face by framing it so well. I just love how she has mixed such unique pieces together so seamlessly! Great job ghost4spider!

She's wearing:

Folk Violet Print Jacket
LE Lime Juice Dress
Pretty n' Love Ankle Band Sandles
Fallen Angel Ribbon Bracelet
*Colorful Feather Earrings

Surprise BlackVelouria! I thought this outfit sums up your classic style, and I just had to share it! Her talent for layering similar colors is shown here. While most of it is black, it all has different textures and opacity. The white shirt and tights are see-through, while the skirt and socks are very opaque. She is able to tie these all together by varying the hues of black being worn. My favorite part, however, are the reddish brown accents in the shoes and purse! Perfect!

What's being worn:

Bonjour Bizou Embroidard Chiffon
Blouse
Bonjour Bizou Paneled Apron Skirt
OTTO Black Tank
Tights
Kloz Knee High Socks
Archive Black Pleather Platforms
Rio Day Bag
*Multi Bracelets, Pearl Ring

":)"

.caterina.'s sporty yet relaxing look is so refreshing! The colors she uses are very monochromatic which I think creates the relaxing feeling, yet the cut and style of the clothes makes them appear sporty. Her mixing of crop cut and over sized pieces works wonderfully together in their contrasting lengths. The top and pants are shorter while the jacket is very long. This evens out the appearance quite well. Her accessories give just enough variety to the outfit! The pop of pink and light blue/green keep this look exciting. Great styling .caterina.!

Being worn:

Riviera Pink Stripe Cardi
Riviera Snap Overall Top
Bonjour Bizou DIY Ripped Jeans
Pretty n' Love Sneakers
Liu-Jo LiuJo Grey Bracelet
OTTO Peace Sign Bracelets
*Purple Diamond Necklace

"Classy, fresh, young, sometimes glam... and always comfortable!!!"

suchabarbieGold has a wonderful springy look! The amount of floral pattern she uses is just right! Not too busy, not too plain. This top is actually the piece that ties everything together in the outfit. It contains every color she has used in different pieces and accessories. Although a bit dressy, this outfit keeps it playful with the extra long thin necklace, bow belt, strappy heels, and stacked bracelets. The proportions of the clothes are just right as well. The short top is evened out by the high waisted skirt, the short pearl necklace versus the long chain, the over-sized head piece with the small clutch. SuchabarbieGold really knows how to mix!

She is wearing:

Archive PIP Crop Top
Stardoll High Waitsted Skirt
Pretty n' Love Peach Bow Tie Belt
Floral Clutch
Riviera Conch Shell Banded Heels
Voile Multi Beaded Necklace
Liu-Jo Liu-Jo Grey Bracelet
Riviera Bali High Bangles
*Heart Stickers, Pearl Shell Necklace, Jeweled Feather Earrings, Pink Flower Fascinator

"Flower Fairy"

Over the top and fantastical describe SorokaBeloboka look perfectly! I love this whimsical outfit. She is able to keep it looking sane by keeping every piece in the purple zone. The wings, top dress, and billowing skirt tie it all together. She has layered some great pieces here. I love how the bottom layers look as if they were fluffy clouds. The asymmetrical look also works well with this outfit and keeps the eye interested in what is going on. SorokaBeloboka really knows how to put a twist on layering!

Wearing:

Perfect Day Secret Roses Gown
Other World Side Draped Satin Skirt
Other World Mermaid Skirt
Other World Geometric Acne Inspired Shoes
Other World Butterfly Wings
Voile Multi Beaded Necklace
*Pearl Ring, Big Pink Petal Headpiece, Pearl Tiara

Doll House: Bettyboop71

Hi dollfaces! I found a wonderful doll who has a great doll house... bettyboop71. I had the wonderful pleasure of talking to her a bit and conducted a little interview. I've also displayed a few pictures of her suite. I think what caught my eye was the colors she uses and how nicely everything blends together in each room. She also does an excellent job at displaying the perfect outfit in each room so seamlessly!

I love this room for the vibrant colors she used. Most dolls stray away from bright pink and yellow, but Bettyboop71 seems to embrace them!

Bettyboop71 has perfectly coordinated these outfits to the room.

Alie:  What is your favorite room in your suite and why?
Bettyboop71:  My favorite room for now is my new beach villa, because it's soo relaxing and so beautiful! And I think it's because I really wish to have one like this in real life! :) haha!

My favorite part of this room is the chandelier silhouettes. So creative!

Alie:  What room was the first that you started decorating?
Bettyboop71:  The first room I began decorating is the pink one on the third floor.I was inspired by the LE collection and my favorite color which is PINK!

I absolutely love this room. She has really carried out the red, black, and white theme along with playing with stripes.

Elegance doesn't quite sum up this room well enough! It is definitely chic to the max... and did you see the floor? Wonderful!

Alie:  Did/do you have any inspirations for decorating your suite?
Bettyboop71:   My inspirations in decorating my suite are a lot like the style I love in real life, so I love the " Shabby Chic interiors", "girly "and "feminine" decors.

Clean lines with a mix of vintage appeal. Perfect.

Beachtastic! Okay so badly made up word, but I think it aptly describes this room. It is so cheerful!

Alie:  What advice would you give someone who was just beginning to decorating their suite?
Bettyboop71:  The advice I would give to someone just starting to decorate their suite would be to follow their tastes and " vibes", follow their intuition and maybe if they need help, take a look at pictures they love in decorating magazines or boutiques they love. I think it's a good way to start!

Please stop by Bettyboop71's suite to check out the rest of her amazing Doll House! It certainly is "shabby chic, girlie, and feminine"!

Seamstress: gucci***gurl

I have found a wonderful seamstress named gucci***gurl. I love her vintage inspired designs and I hope you do too! Here is a small interview and a few pictures of her designs. Enjoy!

Teal:  So I'd like to ask you a couple of questions. Very basic just so the readers can get to know a little bit more about you. I know I started out designing for myself first. Wanting to fill my stardoll wardrobe with clothes I would wear in real life. How did you first start designing?

gucci***gurl:  I started when they first introduced the feature, I wanted a damask patterned dress so I made one! In those days non-superstars could design as well which was lucky because I only became a superstar a few months ago.

Teal:  What are your influences? You have a gorgeous line of vintage inspired dresses. Is there something specific, like any real life clothing that you own, that inspires you?

gucci***gurl:  Probably the dresses on pinupgirlclothing.com, I'm a huge fan of Laura Byrnes' photography - which is how I found the site. It costs a lot to get the clothes in New Zealand, but I found a reseller that sells them pretty cheap.

Teal:  I love your color palate! It's very soft and delicate. Probably my favorite part of your whole collection. What can we expect from your next collection if you have even started thinking about it?

gucci***gurl:  I have no idea! I tend to just make whatever comes to my mind at the time
