Dolls!!!

After many, many months of waiting I finally have a post for you! Dolls!! I had a lot of fun going around trying to find people to post on here again. It brought back some great memories... I mean, it's how I met most of you! I just want to say thank you so much for everyone hanging around and being supportive during the blogs down time. Everyone's kind words (to me and about the blog) encouraged me to get it up again. I made so many wonderful friends from it, and I'm glad the blog can bring some of you together. Now to the dolls!

Acidbunny has been able to mix "Pretty in Pink" and edgy seamlessly. The oversized bow, mid length dress, and bracelets keep the look feminine. The studded clutch, textured black sleeves on the dress, and strappy spiked heels take this look to the next level. What keeps this look from becoming too overwhelming is her detail to proportion. The mid-thigh length of the dress evens out the almost elbow lengthed sleeves. Pairing an oversized bow was the perfect choice with a smaller clutch, and by choosing a shoe that came up right past the ankle, the look doesn't reveal too much leg. Also the balance of smooth materials with textural ones evens out the look to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Great job Acidbunny!

What she's wearing:
Diane von Furstenberg  Oversized Bow
Young Hollywood  Chloe Fringe Colorblock Dress
Bonjour Bizou  Hot Buys Wedge Heels
Bonjour Bizou  Studded Lips Clutch
Young Hollywood  Daphne Diamante Bracelets

FlaviaLucini has managed to make neutral tones, anything but boring! He has made his doll's look interesting by using both warm and cool tones in the neutral pallet. The necklace, cardigan, and shoes are all warmer with yellow/orange undertones, while the leggings, purse, and white shirt have blue undertones. Orange and blue are complimentary colors, making his whole outfit pleasing to the eye. He has also balanced textures. Straight texture in the cardigan evens out the rounded texture of the leggings and necklace. Oh and did I mention the slouchy, oversized cardigan with skin tight leggings and minimal shoes? Genius! With this combination of texture, color, and size, FlaviaLucini has a pulled off a great look!

What FlaviaLucini is wearing:
Decades  1920's Coat
Young Hollywood  Selena at Nickelodeon Top
Rio  Gold Paisley Print Leggings
Young Hollywood  Mary Kate Box Purse
Young Hollywood  Ashley Court Shoes
Viole  Gold Bubble Necklace

A_horror has successfully mixed subtlety with baby doll chic in this great look. I say baby doll due to the cute sleeveless, collared shirt on top. It gives the outfit a baby doll look as well with the length and baggyness of it. The subtlety comes from tiny details that really pull the outfit together, but first this was done by "blacking" out the extra. Her legs and arms are completely covered by black, and to my surprise, layered in black. She had on at least four shirts to get this look! The tiny details come from the layered in geometric bracelet as well as the two stripes on the top layer of tights. The shoes are also layered... can I say we might have a new layering queen? Keeping the colors in same general tone also ties the whole outfit together!

What's being worn:
Stardoll  Babydoll Tunic
Decades  L/S Top
Tomorrow  TWTWB Combat Top
Sonia Rykiel Tribute  Gray Toe Stockings
Tights
Fallen Angle  Gray Tights
Bonjour Bizou  Worn Brown Boots
Bonjour Bizou  Two Tone Heels
Bonjour Bizou  Black Socks
Buckled Sandals
Viole  Sharp Bracelet
Bonjour Bizou  Raven Skull Necklace

Sillivanilli looks super glamorous in red! She is able to keep the outfit looking casual though through the simplicity of the look. The puffy pioneer inspired sleeves mixed with the scarf create a heavier top, but the clean legs along with shoes that blend in with her skin balance this out. The accessories also are concentrated in the same area drawing the eye up to focus on her face. What doll doesn't want the viewer to see her and not just her clothes? The bright red purse highlights the bright red tones through the dress which is what makes this casual outfit have a touch of glamour. Great job sillivanilli!

What she's wearing:
Stardoll  Stardoll dress
Bonjour Bizou  Glove Belt
Designed by sillivanilli  Scarf
Stardoll  Red Quilted Purse
Stardoll  Peach Heels
Metal Hair Barette

Here we have morgana.s67 looking ever so blue... but in a very good way! She is able to keep the whole outfit looking cohesive by having varying shades of blue all within the same tone. They are all red based blues which is also why she was able to add in a few purple elements. The skull shirt blends in seamlessly due to the fact that it contains all of the shades of blue morgana.s67 has used in this outfit. Although the skirt is textured, it is the layering that ties this outfit (besides the color) together. A shirt layered with an open sweater and necklace, a skirt layered by a belt and a purse, and high heels layered with socks. Morgana.s67 is looking very cool in this ^-^

Worn:
Verses Versace Tribute  Baby Blue Cardigan
Verses Versace Tribute  Skyscraper Stripe Skirt
Mortal Kiss  Versace Inspired Midnight Skirt
Stadoll  Purple Bow Belt
Bonjour Bizou  Printed Tank Inspired by McQueen
Stardoll  Purple Purse
Young Hollywood  Katy Blue Velvet Shoes
Voile  Victor Rolf Inspired Shoes
PPQ  Cornflower Socks
Folk  Shell Strung Necklace
Riviera  Seabreeze Necklace
Windows on the World  Bracelets Isnp by Herchovitch
*Yellow Sunglasses, BLue Hoop Earrings, Blue Ring, Bracelets.

Tealsmoke pulls off her signature 50's inspired look once again in a great yellow and black number... but far from looking like a bee! The yellow and black really compliment each other due to fact that it is a more dull yellow and not as abrasive on the eyes. By using all black elements, it makes the black shapes on the dress cohesive with them, while making the yellow take the spotlight. She has added a bit of whimsy to the whole outfit with the fun keyboard clutch and oversized hat. This clutch help keeps the outfit from looking stuck in the past, by mixing up the classic look. The hat throws in a fun element of proportion. Fabulous job Tealsmoke... especially considering she designed the dress!

Tealsmoke's look:
Designed by tealsmoke  Dress
Designed by tealsmoke  Sleeved Shirt
Young Hollywood  Piano Key Star Clutch
Tingling  Thick Belt
Bonjour Bizou  Belt
Viole  Viole Gloves
Decades  Hat
Archive  Pumps

Yukitarea has created a look that teeters on the 90s grudge look, yet is still sophisticated. Both the top and dress mimic each other's length. Where the sleeves hit the arm it is around the same area of the leg the bottom of the dress rests. This keeps the outfit looking uniform. She has also layered accessories (love the camera!!) that create length with a long, clean dress. While this carries the eye down ward, she broke up the line with a belt and the cropped top. These both break up the path with horizontal lines. The chunky shoes add some "fatness" to the look making it much more interesting. Super job yukitarea!

What yukitarea is wearing:
Bonjour Bizou  Square Draped Crop Blouse
Young Hollywood  Ashley Teal Sheath Dress
PIX  CameraBag BlackSatin
Archive  All Over Floral Purse
Windows on the World  Shoes Inspired By Carin Wester
Bonjour Bizou  Belt
Bonjour Bizou  Clock Locket Necklace
Fallen Angel  Cross Necklace

Caterpix2 has created a very chic, bohemian look. She has accomplished this by playing with proportion in her outfit. Pairing the slouchy, oversized long sleeved top with just tights compliments the different sizes involved. The textures also add to this opposition with the very smooth and plain shirt, with the highly juxtaposed texture of the tights. Although there are really only two main articles of clothing, by using this tactic of proportion as well as contrasting textures, she keeps our eyes wondering what is next. Her outfit really fits the "opposites attract" saying! Do you know what keeps everything looking cohesive? The muted colors mixed black accessories!

What she is wearing:
Bonjour Bizou  Layered Crew Neck Sweater
Woven Tights
Spring Surprise  Peep Toe Pumps
Bouquet of Colorful Roses
Black Disc Earrings
Thin Headband

Coming Soon!!

Okay everyone, thank you so much for being so patient with me. Many of you have such kind words about the blog, and keep asking for new posts. Well I am going to be posting soon! I miss the blog and miss meeting such great dolls (as well as kindling old friendships), so I am going to get it up and running again. I will probably make a new layout as well.

BUT I need everyone's help. I need a few contributors to the blog. I'm a full time university student, and I just don't have the time to look for great dolls, suites, come up with looks etc. If you would like to help out, please either send me a message on stardoll, or send an email to pinupdollsblog@hotmail.com. Please include your name and tell me a bit about yourself. If you want to be a full time contributor with webpage allowance, please include a brief background about your web background ie any sites you've made, blogs on tumblr, use on blogger etc. If you just want to be part time contributor and just suggest some great finds, you don't need any web background. Please let me know which spot you'd like to be involved it! Everyone is still welcome to  let me know of great dolls they find without needed to be contributor though.

Thank you everyone!!!! You are all such wonderful dolls, I'm so sorry I let this blog fall through. Let's all get together and make this happen again ^-^

Seamstresses... A Project!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been able to update too much this week... I'm in the middle of moving and finding a job and furniture I can afford. BUT today while browsing through some DIY blogs, I came across an excellent project for you to try out. Have you ever seen wedges or flats that you love the lines of but maybe not the color or fabric so much? Well now you can cover them in whatever fabric you like with these instructions! I can't wait to try out this myself...a great way to revamp some old shoes. I hope you enjoy, and if you try this, please send me a pic here!

From this....

...to this!

Just follow the step by step instructions here. They seem quite easy, and require no sewing skills! Everyone should be able to make them ^-^ The writer's instructions are also very easy to follow. Happy crafting!

Doll House: Anne.Sofie

I am back with another amazing suite created by Anne.Sofie! Her suite inspires me so much, and she is very nice to talk to as well. All throughout her suite, she clearly has a vision. While the colors are more neutral, her suite is anything but boring. She has played with textures to create interest in her rooms. Anne.Sofie uses wood grains, furs, stone, animal prints, brick, and geometric patterns beautifully. BlackVelouria also pointed out how she has placed orchids in almost every single room. It is said that the orchid represents love, beauty, luxury, and strength which I think sums up Anne.Sofie's suite quite well. Such a lovely and pure addition. Please go by and visit her excellent suite! Bellow I've put some pictures up of her rooms, and a very thoughtful interview. I think you can really see that Anne.Sofie puts a lot of thought into everything she does and is always true to herself. Enjoy and please leave a comment below!

I love how she has used the couch as a head board and pillows. So creative!

The LE chair Anne.Sofie mentions in the interview is just perfect. It really compliments the room so well. I like the idea of her forever changing rooms, as if they are living, breathing things.

Alie: What was the first room you started decorating and finished?
Anne.Sofie: Well, I've changed my suite a lot since I started to decorate it, but I think the oldest of the current rooms is the bedroom on the 2nd floor to the right (shown above). I always make small changes to my rooms, however, so it looks a bit different now than it did when I first 'finished' it. I mean, when the LE furniture came out, I bought the fur covered chair and placed it in the bedroom instead of the chair that was there before because the fur and the colour of it suited the rest of the room so well. That's why I never consider any of my rooms to be 'complete' or 'finished', simply because there are always new things to add and so on. It's a 'work in progress' as I like to call it.

Great textures are being used here! The brick, the long thin rectangular tiles, the mesh rug under the table, the shiny surfaces... wonderful.

Alie: Which room of your suite is your favorite?
Anne.Sofie: This is a tough one to answer as I'm very pleased with all of my rooms because they represent me so well, but if I were to choose just one I'd choose the kitchen I made in the Beach Villa room (pictured last). It turned out really well, I think. The size of the room allowed me to make the kitchen I had always dreamed of making since we here in Denmark really value kitchens as one of, if not THE, most important rooms in a house or apartment. It's big with lots of space and there's a lot of personal details such as the wallpaper I designed and also the floor since I - as far as I know and at least within my circle of friends- was the first one to use the stones as a floor.

Here you can see Anne.Sofie's home made desk. What a great idea! And a new texture is shown in the chair. I also love the scene she has created outside the window using branches.

I feel as though I would never, ever want to leave this room! It has a subtle feel of the Serengeti with the play of animals.

Alie: What is your inspiration for your rooms?
Anne.Sofie: I gather inspiration anywhere and everywhere, really. I like visiting other people's suites and find inspiration there. It's not because I copy their ideas, it's more because seeing their ideas and their way of decorating sort of triggers my own creativity and makes me think of my own ways to create different things. I do a lot of DIY in my suite. I create my own furniture and so on, such as the desk I created (3rd floor on right and pictured two up). I think that's the most fun and also what makes my suite more unique because I don't just settle for the furniture Stardoll has made available to me. If I need a piece of furniture and I don't like any of the ones in the StarPlaza or the SuiteShop, then I simply go ahead and make one myself.

Very zen. She has utilized this interior very nicely, and has really drawn the viewers eye to the bed by placing it under the lights, and having it framed by the walls.

My dream kitchen as well as Anne.Sofie's. Brilliant use of the beach villa stone floor. She was the first that I saw to use it like that! Love!

Alie: What advice would you give someone who was just starting to decorate their suite?
Anne.Sofie: The advice I always follow myself is really simple: I always try to decorate my rooms the way I would want them to look if it was a real life house/apartment. For example, I think to myself, "what does my dream living room look like?" Another important thing to remember is to stay true to yourself and your own style. Just because everyone decorates their suite in a certain style doesn't mean that YOU have to, and don't ever copy anyone. We all get inspired by each other, but nothing, NOTHING, good comes from copying someone else.

Please go by and look Anne.Sofie's suite in it's entirety! My post does not do it justice. I hope you all enjoyed reading her wonderful and in depth interview. I hope it has inspired you as much as it does me. If you go to her suite, please only leave nice comments and NO spamming! Although I don't think you dolls would do that anyways ^-^ Please leave a comment below, and let me know what you think!

Twiggy Tutorial

Here is my very first makeup tutorial EVER! I decided to show how to make a look inspired by the 60's model Twiggy. You can stop when the makeup is complete or go on, like I did, and throw on a few fake lashes. Up to you! I hope you enjoy it, and please leave a comment. I would love some feedback and a few suggestions on tutorials you'd like to see!

Inspiration:
Famous picture of Twiggy.

Products Used:

Tutorial:
Step One:
I put all of the makeup I was using together, and I put my hair up so I had a blank canvas to work with.
Step Two:
Eye Shadow/Shade Stick: I covered the whole eyelid only once with the white. Closer to the lid, I went over it two more times making it darker each time.
Step Three:
White Eyeliner: I lined the top and bottom lids with the white liner. I kind of look like a clown right now. Not to worry!
Step Four:
Liquid Liner: Next, I lined the TOP eyelid only with the black liquid liner. I extended it a bit farther out than what the Twiggy inspiration photo did, but that was a stylistic choice. You should play with it, and find where you want it.
Step Five:
Mascara: Volumizing and lengthening mascara were added next. You may choose to use only one depending on the eyes you have.
Step Six:
Lipstick: Now I added the Apricot lipstick to give it that mod, nude look! You can choose to stop here or continue with me by adding a few more fun details.
Step Seven (Optional):
Extras: Last, but not least, I added top and bottom lashes. I also added the line of jewels under my eye for extra definition.
Finished Product:
Without lashes and with lashes!

Here is my sister, erica_star, and our spokes doll, pinupdollsblog, to show how the Twiggy makeup looks on different dolls.
